The Ubuntu One store. What a brilliant idea. Everyone loves music. And Linux users love open source software. People contribute in all sorts of ways – Writing open source software, submitting bug reports, or maintaining a blogging website like this one!

Unfortunately, the software packagers at Amazon have linked their Linux software against the libboost* libraries that were packaged for Fedora 11. Us Fedora users like the newest software available, so I’m sure, like me, you’re all using Fedora 12. If that is the case, then I’m sure non of you are using Amazon’s mp3 downloader – It doesn’t work with Fedora 12

We encode our MP3 files using variable bit rates for maximum audio quality and smaller file sizes, aiming at an average of 256 kilobits per second (kbps). Using a variable bit rate allows us to allocate a higher bit rate to the more complex sections of music files while using a smaller bit rate for the less complex sections.
