The Rules of Blackjack

In addition to betting on your own two cards, you can also bet on the dealer’s hand. This is called an “insurance bet” and it pays 2 to 1 if the dealer’s hole card is an ace.
Most casinos will allow players to make this bet before the first player is dealt their cards. However, you should always check with the dealer before placing this bet.
The dealers at the casino will shuffle and deal the cards to each player at the table. They must also keep track of each individual player’s bets so they can adjust their own payouts for the next round.
Some casinos will offer side bets on blackjack, which are great for the player who wants to increase his chances of winning a big pot. These bets can range from a single dollar to a large amount. These bets can be on everything from a player getting a pair as his first two cards to betting on whether or not the dealer will have bust during the round.
Generally, the house edge in blackjack is relatively low compared to other casino games. In fact, it’s often less than 1%!
